At the time of this production, Hurricane Ian had devastated all of Southwest Florida at a significant level - our production team experienced difficulty obtaining lumber and materials and now had a bigger time crunch to get everything done in time for opening. With that being said, after everything had been built, I only had 4 days to paint this set on top of a full-time student’s schedule. Aspects of the paint elevations such as the doors and rosemaling throughout the set had to be simplified to account for the schedule. Despite the challenges posed to our community and in turn, this production, I have so much pride in the outcome. I pushed through the learning curve of scenic charging for the first time and look back fondly on the resilience of myself and my peers.
